Exterior Concrete Slabs & Care
Placing exterior slabs is not recommended when freezing conditions could occur within 28 days of pouring.
Avoid using de-icing chemicals or products that increase freeze/thaw cycles, as they can cause surface damage not covered by warranty.
Proper curing and annual application of a concrete sealer are essential to minimize damage.
For safety on icy surfaces, the use of clean traction sand is recommended.
Additional Notes
Please note that volumetric concrete may experience extended setting times in cooler weather, even with the use of additives. Consequently, Joe & Sons Ready Mix is not responsible for any additional finishing time this may necessitate.
In cold weather conditions, it's important to consider that lower temperatures can slow down the hydration process of concrete, leading to longer setting times. While additives like accelerators can help speed up curing, their effectiveness may be limited in colder environments. Therefore, additional measures such as using heated water, insulating blankets, or heated enclosures might be necessary to maintain optimal curing temperatures.
