Warranty
1. Limited Warranty
This warranty is valid for one year, commencing from the pour date, covering defects in materials or workmanship.
2. Defective Materials
Major Concrete Cracks: See definitions in exclusions.
Failure in Supplied Concrete Design: This applies only when Joe & Sons Concrete is directly contracted (refer to Ready Mix Sales Conditions).
Concrete Vertical and Soffit Surfaces: These surfaces are to be smooth-form finished as per CAN CSA 7.9.2.6. (2014), excluding any patching of holes smaller than 1⁄2 inch on vertical surfaces.
3. Defective Workmanship
Improper Drainage or Slope: Concrete that holds water outside of flatwork finishing must meet CSA Class A "Conventional" FF20 FL15 standards (all smooth finish) or must not hold water beyond 3/8th of an inch.
Concrete Flatwork Finishing: Flatwork finishing must meet or exceed CSA Class A "Conventional" FF20 FL15 standards (all smooth finish) with 3/8th of an inch variance in flat surfaces only. Sloped, textured, and exposed surfaces are not included in this category.
Sub-Par Finishing Techniques: Any finishing techniques considered sub-par to industry standards, as confirmed by two independent and reputable consultants in the field of concrete finishing.
4. Exclusions
This limited warranty does not apply to damage resulting from:
Abuse of Your Concrete: Misuse beyond the intended design.
Acts of God: Fire, flood, earthquake, defective subsurface, or other natural events such as weather-induced expansion and contraction.
Altering Nearby Areas: Alterations that affect drainage or water flow undermining your concrete.
Growth of Trees or Plants: Root growth near your concrete.
Scaling or Spalling: Damage due to surface scaling or spalling.
Post-Installation Contact: Contact between your concrete and vehicles, foreign objects, animals, or persons (other than contractors) during the 28-day curing period.
Non-Major Cracks: Cracks smaller than 1⁄4 inch due to compaction efforts, improper subgrade depths, or materials not defined in the contract.
Discoloration or Stains: Discoloration or staining of the concrete surface.
Freeze-Thaw Cycles: Settlement or shifting from freeze-thaw cycles, and expansion or contraction from adverse heat.
Color Uniformity: Variations in color within the same pour or when repaired/replaced are not covered.
Base Material Failures: Failures due to base materials not installed by Joe & Sons Concrete Ltd.
Prep Work by Others: Any prep work completed by others negates all warranty items.
5. Notification of Warranty
To activate a warranty claim, you must notify Joe & Sons Concrete within the one-year period.
Inspection: Upon notification, a representative from Joe & Sons Concrete Ltd will inspect the concrete to determine and investigate the cause.
Repair: If the cause is found to be due to defective materials or workmanship within one year of completion, the work will be repaired at no charge. Joe & Sons will determine the remediation effort.
